When we bring someone to Gelston for the first time, one of our favorite moments is driving them up Galina Lane. As you pass Hendersen House, the 1787 farmhouse, you approach the deteriorating Gelston Castle and the spectacular view of the Mohawk Valley creeps in behind the majesty of the stone structure. “Oh my, Lord” is the phrase most often used, as people ask to stop the car. They want to get out and take in the undescribable scenery that surrounds them. The first deep breath, and the resulting exhale reveals a smile and new sense of energy to their being. |
